Free Trade Agreements
In today’s global business environment, American business needs free and fair trade policies to compete around the world. Forming mutually beneficial agreements with our trading partners opens more markets for American-made goods and fosters economic growth. Free trade agreements (FTA) with Colombia, Panama, and South Korea, are currently awaiting Congressional approval.
FTAs are negotiated by representatives of each country involved. After reaching the agreement, the FTA must be approved by the legislature of each country. Although three FTAs are ready for approval, Congressional leadership has blocked consideration of these agreements, despite the benefit each will have on the economy.
